Couple & Psychosexual Therapy supervision with Jane Read

Infertility Counselling Supervision also with Jane Read.

Supervision with Ray Little
Ray is a qualified and UKCP registered supervisor with over thirty years experience of supervising therapists and counsellors. He supervises both senior undergraduates and graduates.

Ray is currently interested in an integrative relational approach to therapy, with a particular emphasis on working with primitive states of mind. To this end he is author of several articles and these include; Schizoid Processes, Primitive Processes, Ego State Relational Units & Resistance to Change, and Treatment Consideration when working with Pathological Narcissism (see list of articles on the profile page).

Ray conceptualises the mind as being made up of relational configurations. One of the features of a relational approach is the focus on both the intrapsychic and the interpersonal. As a relational therapist he thinks of the therapist and client each bringing to the therapeutic dyad their own subjectivities, conscious and unconscious, each containing their own self-other relational schemas. On meeting, both client and therapist generate a unique coupling.

Ray's supervisory and therapeutic focus is with the transference-countertransference matrix. He believes that transformation and change takes place within this relationship, working through the past in the present. This approach encompasses being willing to embrace and work through the needed and repeated relationships via the therapeutic required relationship (Little, 2011).

Individual Supervision with Ray Little
One-to-one supervision can be arranged with Ray on an individual basis. This can be weekly, every 2nd week or on a monthly basis.

Group Supervision and Case Discussion with Ray Little
At Enderby Associates Ray facilitates supervision and clinical discussion groups on a monthly basis. The groups run for a year starting in September, and are suitable for senior undergraduates and graduates. The theoretical orientation is an integrative relational approach to psychotherapy and counselling.
Members of the group commit themselves for a full year and this commitment to the group includes regular attendance in order to foster a mutual learning environment and to enable the group and group members to develop a deeper understanding of their processes. This commitment also includes a financial undertaking to pay for all sessions, whether or not they are attended.

There will be a vacancy in the Friday supervision group in Edinburgh commencing Sept. 2022.

Specialist Supervision
Ray also offers specialist supervision focusing upon therapeutic work with clients who would be diagnosed as Borderline Personality Organisation (Kernberg, 1975), including Borderline, Narcissistic and Schizoid personalities. Specialist supervision is often recommended for these clinical issues.

Supervision Consultancy Services with Ray Little
Ray offers supervision of supervision for practicing supervisors. Supervision consultancy is a useful part of a supervisor's ongoing monitoring and development of their competence and affords an opportunity to think systematically about their supervisory work. This is offered as an individual service or in groups.

Professional Development Seminar with Ray Little
This group is facilitated by Ray and meets on a Saturday, six times in the year. The aim of the group is to broaden our understanding and application of an integrative relational approach to psychotherapy and counselling. The day is divided between didactic input and discussion of articles, supervision and case discussion. The theoretical teaching may include the following approaches; self-psychology, object relations, psychoanalysis, transactional analysis. The subjects for discussion have included the following; responding to depression and suicidal clients, understanding primitive states of mind, disorders of the self, the psychology of shame, schizoid processes and the transference-countertransference matrix. Participants are encouraged to share their knowledge and experience. The specific content of the programme for the year is determined by discussion between Ray and group members. The group offers the opportunity for therapists to develop skills, understanding and capacities.
This group meets face to face in Edinburgh.

There will be a vacancy in the Edinburgh seminar from Sept. 2022.

Professional Development Study Group
This group meets 6 times per year on a Saturday, 2-5pm. The group meets to study and discuss articles and relevant case material. The specific content of the programme for the year is determined between the facilitator, Ray, and group members.
This study group meets on line.

All groups run for a year, Sept. through to July.
