Supervision and Continuing Professional Development Services.Services for Counsellors and PsychotherapistsIn addition to Edinburgh, Enderby Associates also offers these services in West London on a monthly basis. Individual Supervision and Case Discussion with either Jane Read or Ray Little Individual supervision is available for qualified and experienced counsellors and psychotherapists, as well as those who are in training. Supervision is offered in any of the arenas of work outlined, that is; Psychotherapy and Counselling supervision with Ray Little, Couple & Psychosexual Therapy and Infertility Counselling supervision with Jane Read. Group Supervision and Case Discussion with Ray Little At Enderby Associates Ray facilitates supervision and clinical discussion groups on a monthly basis. The groups usually run for a year starting in either January or September, and are suitable for senior undergraduates and graduates. The theoretical orientation is an integrative relational approach to psychotherapy and counselling. Members of the group commit themselves for a full year and this commitment to the group for the year includes regular attendance in order to foster a mutual learning environment and to enable the group and group members to develop a deeper understanding of their processes. This commitment also includes a financial undertaking to pay for all sessions, whether or not they are attended. Supervision Consultancy Services with Ray Little Ray offers supervision of supervision for practicing supervisors. Supervision consultancy is a useful part of a supervisor's ongoing monitoring and development of their competence and affords an opportunity to think systematically about their supervisory work. This is offered as an individual service or in groups. Professional Development Seminars with Ray Little These groups are facilitated by Ray and meet on a Saturday, six times in the year. The aim of the group is to broaden our understanding and application of an integrative relational approach to psychotherapy and counselling. The day is divided between didactic input and discussion of articles, supervision and case discussion. The theoretical teaching may include the following approaches; self-psychology, object relations, psychoanalysis, transactional analysis. The subjects for discussion have included the following; responding to depression and suicidal clients, understanding primitive states of mind, disorders of the self, the psychology of shame, schizoid processes and the transference-countertransference matrix. Participants are encouraged to share their knowledge and experience. The specific content of the programme for the year is determined by discussion between the facilitator and group members. The next Edinburgh group starts in September 2010. The next London group also starts Sept. 2010. Both groups run for a year, Sept. through to July. To register your interest in either group, please contact the office. Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy Supervision with Jane Read Supervision Consultancy Services with Jane Read Supervision of supervision for both Psychosexual Therapy Supervisors and Infertility Counselling Supervisors. Jane has a particular interest in the development of appropriate supervision for psychosexual and infertility counselling. ****************************************************************************************** CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS Workshops and training days are offered both ‘in house’, and on a consultancy basis. The workshops detailed below were successfully attended last year. They give a flavour of the kind of CPD workshops that are on offer. The programme is continually being developed, so watch this space for details! Primitive Processes in the Borderline Personality Organisation. Primitive processes have their roots in our earliest experiences and refer to such dynamics as a lack of an integrated sense of self, identity confusion, the habitual use of primitive defences, and temporary breaks in reality testing when under stress. In this workshop we will explore how these processes manifest themselves as part of borderline personality organisation. Schizoid Processes and Personality Disorders. The term schizoid has been used variously in the psychotherapy literature to describe a character structure, personality traits, and psychological processes. Schizoid processes are universal ways of responding to reality. Schizoid personality disorders, on the other hand, represent rigid intrapsychic structures that influence our experience of reality. In this workshop we will examine both processes and personality structures. Treatment Considerations when working with Destructive Narcissism. In this workshop we will explore pathological narcissism and some of the challenges of working with narcissistically organised clients. In particular we will examine how destructive elements manifest themselves and impact on the therapeutic relationship. We will look at how the defences of the narcissistically organised client are threatened by the separateness of the client and therapist or counsellor. Relational Focused Counselling and Psychotherapy: A Primer. A relational orientation to counselling and psychotherapy has been evolving since the late eighties. In relational-focused therapy, the therapist or counsellor offers the client the opportunity to experience and examine the relational forces that have formed him or her. The particular approach we will examine in this workshop will include, working within the transference -countertransference matrix in the here-and-now, and supporting the interpersonal manifestation of the intrapsychic.
